VINAND MUKATABALA NANTULYA
Chairman and Founder
Dr. Nantulya, a visionary leader in the field of pharmaceutical research, founded BRENTEC with the goal of developing groundbreaking therapies for livestock. Under Dr. Nantulya’s leadership, the company has managed to construct the first cGMP certified pilot production facility for vaccines in East Africa. He is a seasoned career researcher having started his journey as a research fellow at the International Laboratory for Research on Animal Diseases in Nairobi.
He has immense experience in the field of public health and disease management and has held senior positions at the Harvard School of Public Health and University of Geneva as well as a fellowship position with University of Sciences in Philadelphia. BRENTEC is a culmination of his research and experiences. He is also Co-Founder and Chairman of Zygen Diagnostics, a company involved in the research, development and manufacture of Rapid Diagnostic Tests for Humans.
DAMALIE MUKIIBI
Independent Board Member
Damalie joined BRENTEC in February 2023 as an Independent board member. She is a seasoned financial sector expert with over two decades of leadership experience across banking, SME development, and social impact initiatives in emerging markets. As a Board Member at BRENTEC, she brings strategic insight, experience and financial oversight to guide our innovation strategy in animal health and agri-sector resilience.
Damalie has held senior executive roles in regional banks and currently serves as Team Lead at Trade Avenue, where she champions investor readiness, BDS and impact-driven growth for SMEs. Her work reflects a strong commitment to inclusive economic development and sustainable enterprise, particularly in sectors vital to food security and rural livelihoods.
BRIAN BIGIRWA
Director and Co-Founder
Brian is a Co-founder at BRENTEC. He joined BRENTEC early on at the inception of the company’s entrance into vaccine manufacturing. A is an experience biochemist with over two decades working in the biologics space. He spearheaded the construction and certification of BRENTEC’s first pilot manufacturing plant in 2011 and was also instrumental in guiding the product development of KUKUSTAR at the company from concept to market.
He is also an expert in Regulatory Science and Quality Systems. He currently serves as BRENTEC’s Managing Director.
CHRISTOPHER KWAGALA KIGENYI
Investment Director UDBL
Mr. Kigenyi joined BRENTEC in August, 2023. He has substantial expertise in various areas of finance, ranging from Inclusive finance and the SME arena, Corporate, Mezzanine and Project finance, through Equity and Venture capital arrangements.An experience finance professional, he holds an MBA in Finance and the basic bachelor’s degree; He is a Microfinance Consultant and practitioner, currently working as Lead Manager, working with La ‘Oli Financial Advisory Ltd (La ‘Oli).
Besides work in the MFI space, Chris’ previous work experience has entailed traversing Finance and Banking work at various levels, including work in credit support with Audit Control and Expertise (ACE) and Standard Chartered Bank. He has also held executive positions in the corporate banking sector with ABI-Allied Bank International, Fortis-Banque Belgolaise, Africa, Bank of Africa Groupe-BMCE, and Top Finance Bank.
He is an Investor Director for the Equity Finance portfolio, at UDB – Uganda Development Bank (until recently, Technical Advisor to the Board, UDBL). Brentec is one such firm which is part of UDBL’s Equity Investment portfolio. He possesses a wealth of governance expertise having served on the boards at CMA-Capital Markets Authority, Top Finance Bank, Uganda Institute of Bankers, Groupe Bank of Africa, Postbank, Uganda and at the EARR Uganda-Church
